Q: How old must I be to learn to drive? The minimum age for a UK provisional licence is 17. You will need this before you can start taking lessons. Any car that you drive before passing your test must display L-plates front and rear.If you are receiving Disability Living Allowance at the higher rate your provisional licence can come into effect when you are 16. Q: What do I need before I start learning? You cannot start to drive a car until your provisional driving licence has been accepted and in your possession. If you are in receipt of the higher rate of disability, you can start to learn how to drive when you reach your 16th Birthday otherwise you will have to wait until your 17th Birthday. .You can apply for a provisional licence when you are 15 so you can ride a moped, but you have to take and pass the CBT test before you are allowed on the road.If you have never held a driving licence before you will need to apply for a provisional licence. You must complete driving licence application form D1 and photocard application form D750 (available from most post offices) and the appropriate fee.: Q:What will I do on my first lesson? There really is no need for you to have any worries. If you have never sat behind the wheel of a car your instructor certainly won't expect you to get in and drive at the start of the first lesson. He will drive you to a quieter area and explain in easy stages what the various controls of the car do and how you use them. You will then make a start yourself. Your first practical task will very likely be to make the car move off and stop again a little way down the road. There are techniques to learn about all of the car's controls: the clutch, gears, brakes , steering wheel etc. You will learn the techniques in easy stages and will not be expected to take in everything at once! Q: How many lesson will I need? The answer is always difficult but will depend on any road experience you already have, cycling and motorcycle experience can help but above all - it's the dedication you give to your lessons and any aptitude you may have. If you are a new learner driver and you are wondering how many hours of lessons you will need before your test, and how much it will cost - Driving Standards Agency research shows that about 45 hours of professional training plus additional practice provides the best chance of passing.(however most of our pupils pass within 31 hours) Q: How will I know when I'm ready for my test? Your instructor will be the most likely person who will be able to gauge when you are ready for your test. Progress reports are given at the end of each lesson so that you will know yourself how much progress you have made.. Q: Will there be other learners in the car when I'm learning? We guarantee one-to-one tuition. Many of our competitors make their pupils drop off previous customers and collect next pupils but at EasyPass your hour is devoted to you and others will not dictate our choice of route. Q: What car will I learn in? Our current fleet of all new Honda Civic sport and Renault Megane sport cars are especially chosen for their reliability, comfort and easiness to drive. All are very modern, regularly serviced and of course comprehensively insured for your use. Q: What is the cheapest way of booking my lessons?
